Roll Up! The Circus is in Town...

This week I had the great privilege of decorating the windows at the marvelous Red Door Gallery in Edinburgh. Throughout August you can visit Lovely Pigeon's lifesize Cut-Make-Play Circus and then hop inside and buy the small version too. You can also get your paws on some limited edition animal prints - lion, peacock and flatfish - are all in store now.

...and if you fancy a big circus performer of your very own please get in touch.

roll up! roll up!

Roll Up! Roll Up! Welcome to Lovely Pigeon's Cut Make Play Circus. My new circus playkit will be launched this weekend at London's Pulse Trade Fair. The kit contains two sheets of cut out figures along with a circus ring and stands for all your favourite performers. Come along and meet... the bearded lady, tiny tiny elephant, mr and mrs acrobat, the bespectacled bear and many more. Fun for all the family. (Oh and there is also a brand new range of circus cards too).

watch the birdy

I started laying out some templates of my vintage-y bird illustration today so I can experiment with some laser cutting for a new jewellery range. Then happened across this nice repeat pattern.

What to do? I'm thinking teatowels, wrapping paper, cushion covers, oven gloves! All suggestions gratefully received...

James Yorkston and the Big Eyes Family Players

The whole "pigeon" family have been in an illustration frenzy this weekend after being asked to design some covers for James Yorkston's latest single. Martinmas Time is the first single from JY's Folk Songs album and he has enlisted the help of friends and family to create 300 limited edition, hand-illustrated sleeves. Also enlisted were Fence crooners, King Creosote and The Pictish Trail and The Beta Band's Steve Mason. If you fancy a listen or want to order your own piece of JY folk genius try here... www.dominorecordco.com/uk/singles/01-06-09/martinmas-time/

I went with a series of black and white illustrations based on my random doodles, Pittenweem plates and machine stitched bird illustration (a new and highly rewarding experiment). Pete went for a very tongue-in-cheek dress-me-up JY doll. And little pigeons, Jude and Eva were inspired by the sea and rainbows.

I've Been Drawing

Not content with sewing buttons all day, I have been working on some illustrations this week. These are a couple of initial sketches for a kids book I've had in my head for a very long time... dont want to give too much away at the moment...
